Work-Life Excellence Award vs. Singapore Family Friendly Employer Award

Q12. The Work-Life Excellence Award was previously known as the Singapore Family Friendly Employer Award and the Family Friendly Firm Award. What is the rationale for renaming the Award?
A12: The Award's name was changed to reflect more accurately the wide range of work-life practices that can be implemented to benefit both employer and employee and also to make the award criteria more easily understood by the public. There is no intention in renaming the award to de-emphasise the importance of the family in work-life strategy.
Q13. In what ways are the assessment criteria for Work-Life Excellence Award different from the Singapore Family Friendly Employer Award?
A13: While the assessment criteria for the Singapore Family Friendly Employer Award focused on work-life programmes, those for the Work-Life Excellence Award focus on a work-life culture, outcomes and achievements. The Work-Life Excellence Award rewards employers that
  • Recognise the business value in responding appropriately to employees’ work-life needs;
  • Ensure senior management, direct supervisors and employees are committed to their work-life strategy in the long term; and
  • Implement their work-life strategies effectively.
